This space is where I share my journey studying abroad, along with my future aspirations, interests, and experiences along the way. From navigating life in a new country to reflecting on personal and professional growth, this blog captures the moments that are shaping who I am and who I hope to become.
I’m a psychology major with a general business minor at the University of Maryland, interested in human resources and people operations. I’m passionate about working with people, building relationships, and contributing to positive, supportive environments.
Through my experiences in leadership, academics, and studying abroad, I’ve developed strong communication, organization, and teamwork skills. I’m excited to continue exploring opportunities in HR where I can support employee growth and contribute to meaningful work.
My journey and experiences
Study abroad experience
Studying abroad was one of the most impactful parts of my semester. It pushed me to become more independent, adaptable, and comfortable in unfamiliar situations. Being in a new environment also helped me slow down and appreciate smaller, everyday moments, which shifted how I think about growth and success. Overall, the experience made me more open-minded and self-aware, and it strengthened skills that I know will be valuable in my future career, especially in people-focused roles.
Career journey
Throughout this course, I’ve gained a clearer understanding of how my experiences, values, and interests connect to my career path. I came in focused on outcomes like securing internships, but I’ve learned to think more intentionally about what I want in a work environment and how I want to show up professionally. Reflecting on my leadership roles, coursework, and study abroad experience helped me recognize that I’m most motivated by working with people, building relationships, and contributing to positive environments.
This process reinforced my interest in human resources, particularly in areas like employee engagement, talent development, and workplace culture. My goal is to pursue opportunities in HR or people operations where I can support employee growth and contribute to a positive, people-centered environment, eventually working toward a leadership role. Overall, this course gave me more confidence in how to communicate my skills, experiences, and long-term goals moving forward.
